Our Mission Field

The population in India is more than 1.1 billion souls. Almost 91 million worship the Hindu gods. Some Hindu writings claim that there are 330 million (including local and regional) deities, but the following deities form the essential core of Hindu belief: Brahma (the 'Creator'), Vishnu (the 'Protector'), goddess Laxmi/Lakshmi (Vishnu's wife and 'Provider'), Shiva (the 'Powerful God'), goddess Parvati/Durga (Shiva's wife and confidant), and goddess Saraswati ('Deity of Knowledge and Learning').

In our town, almost all people are worshiping the Hindu gods. But these false deities cannot see them or talk to them, they cannot provide for them or heal them, they cannot save them, and they did not die for them! Only Jesus Christ, the one true God, became a man like us, lived a sinless life and died for me, for you, and for all of my Hindu neighbors and relatives. And only Jesus Christ rose from the dead and lives forever in Heaven as our Advocate and great God and King! He only is the Creator, Protector, Provider, Powerful God, and the One who grants knowledge and wisdom.

Jesus said, "...the fields are white for the harvest." (John 4:35) He also gave us two commands: to abide in Him (John 15:4-16) and to go into all the world (Mark 16:15 & Matthew 28:19). How can I say I love Him and not obey? But even more, how can I say I love my neighbors and not tell them about the greatest story ever told, the greatest Love ever given?

Here in India, the fields truly are white for the harvest, as so many are crying out for release from their terrible physical or emotional burdens they carry. We must go and tell them about our Burden-bearer before it is too late!

Preparing the sacrifice for the Hindu god is a ritual that is done with great care and gaeity.

First, they slit the throat and bleed the goat into a jug.

After collecting the goat blood, they cut off the head.

Next, they hang the goat upside-down to complete the bleeding and to skin the carcass.

Sometimes they place pieces of meat and blood on the altar, and other times they only put blood on the altar.

Following the sacrifice, they cook the goat head and remaining blood and then cut it into pieces for curry. They roast or make curry from the rest of the meat for all family members and friends.

"...under the Law almost everything is cleansed with blood,
and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
"
(Hebrews 9:22)

Isn't it interesting that even pagan idol worshipers have an understanding that blood is required for the forgiveness of sins? They don't have the Law of Moses; they don't have the Torah; they don't have the Bible; they don't even have the Koran. All they have are the gods they invented in their own minds. So, where did this understanding come from?

It came from Jehovah. The Bible says that God has written His law on our hearts so that even pagans who don't have the Law, inherently know what the Law requires. (Romans 2:14-15)

I am so thankful that we no longer need to shed the blood of animals to cover our sins, but we have the Blood of Jesus Christ, which doesn't just "cover" our sins, it completely removes them. And we don't have just one Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur or Ramadan), but every day is our Day of Atonement because of the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary. Devuniki Stothramu!!!

These people need to know that there's a living God, not fashioned by man out of gold or ivory or plaster, who has paid the ultimate sacrifice for them. "He entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of His own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God." (Hebrews 9:12-14)

We must tell them! They need to know that the blood sacrifice for their sins has been paid!

Breaking rocks

Breaking rocks is a very difficult and tiring job, as they work only with hand tools in the hot sun all day.

First they chisel out large slabs of granite, then they break those into workable blocks, and then chop and chisel the blocks into smaller pieces. The size depends on building contractor's needs.

These men, women and children have no education, no money for medical needs, no pension for retirement. Their future is to work as long as they are able, teach the trade to their children, and try not to get sick or injured on the job. When they can no longer work, they hope their children will take care of them, or some of them die from alcohol poisoning, or they go begging.

We must tell them about the God who loves them so much that He died for them, who wants them to live with Him forever in a beautiful paradise. They need to know that alcohol is not the answer. Yesu Cristu is the answer!
